Lyon
October 11, 2015 - Lyon, France
Hello again everyone! I know I've been away from the blog for about a month, but I should have a lot of downtime this week so I'll be able to get caught up. I love writing these entries, but it does take a good bit of time, and I haven't wanted to miss anything of the places I've been in by writing about previous legs. So, after leaving Taizé I spent a week in Lyon with my friend Anouk. Those of you from Burlington might remember her as the French exchange student who spent the year at BHS...

Lyon
August 8, 2013 - Lyon, France
Lyon was a lot of fun! We had been told that the marina was good and it was probably the best city marina ever. It is new – just two years old, small, secure and quiet in the evenings – hurrah! After a busy day wandering and visiting it is quite trying to come back to a noisy port as happens in Dijon and Macon. Lyon has a delightfully quaint vaporetto which takes you from the marina which is situated in a trendy St Katharine Docks style development to points on the river near to the...

Montmerle and Trevoux
July 24, 2013 - Lyon, France
When we left Macon we were setting off into uncharted territory. We had a quick look at the moorings in the centre of Macon and then we set off downstream past the huge industrial port and, luckily enough, into a lock with a big hotel boat. We had already decided that if possible we would stop at Montmerle and Trevoux on our way to Lyon and as it happens there were mooring spaces available as we arrived at both places. Montmerle is a lovely little town which stretches out along the banks of...

On the road again!
June 14, 2012 - Lyon, France
Well, we leave in two hours for another adventure.  Unlike last year's epic Lands End to John O'Groats though, we're taking it easy this time! We'll be cycling about 700 miles through the Central and Southern regions of France and ending up in Paris for the Bastille Day weekend. We're taking a month to do it and have the company of Jeremy's dad and his partner Linda. We'll also be joined by Jeremy's Uncle Peter and Aunt Alison for parts. But the best change from last year is that we have...

home
May 3, 2011 - Lyon, France
I'm back in Lyon! Felt kind of good to be going "home" actually, as much as I wish we could've spent more time in Budapest. One exam down, one more to go tomorrow! After that, I just have to finish one essay, finish a book and write an essay on that, and turn both of those in by Friday when Amanda comes into town!! I'm going to show her all the best things of Lyon, and then we'll take off for a day at the beach- I mean, er, sightseeing in Montpellier, and then I have a week to research...
