Paris! (apprx 1/2 way)
December 17, 2009 - Paris, France
Paris was what I had been waiting for ... expectations aplenty! I also have many family relatives in Paris  I had not yet met so it was going to be an intense experience. We had 7 whole days in an apartment in the Latin Quarter. There was a Nepalese restaurant and a velo (automated bike hire) station right at our doorstep and two boulangeries and metro stations - two of each at each end of the small street we were on: so we were set! The apartment was almost just around the corner from Rue...

"I am going"We all have this sentence in our head sometimes. We want to live everything behind, our life, our family, our job, our friends, everything. "I am going" we think.Yet, even when we travel to the 4 corners of the world, there is never anywhere to go. The real travel happens inside. The only real journey is a love story with ourself. A self from which there is never any escape possible. A self we can only learn to grow like a flower. "I am going" we say. So we get a new wife, we...

Santiago!!
November 26, 2009 - Paris, France
Monday the 23rd found us about 12k outside of Santiago, after walking through on and off rain for most of the day.  We stayed at an upscale hostal, where we had our first and probably last pulpo, a famous Galician octopus dish. Tuesday, we got up early and headed over the hills on our last day of walking. The path skirted small secondary roads and then through city streets until we saw the cathedral spires. The Cathedral is very ornate and large from the outside, but suprisingly small...

Paris!
November 21, 2009 - Paris, France
After a perfect night's sleep at Elise's place, we woke early in the morning (early for us... so 9:00) and Maria walked down to the shop to get some things for breakfast. After buying some croissants and bagels she looked for iced coffee. No iced coffee. Not just no Farmers Union Iced Coffee... but NO iced coffee. They had chocolate milk, strawberry milk, banana milk and (this is what really gets me) COOKIES AND CREAM FLAVOURED MILK (what?!), but no iced coffee. So, iced coffee-less Maria...

Melide
November 22, 2009 - Paris, France
Haven´t been able to write in a long time because we´ve been in extremely rural farm towns with no internet and usually, no heat. Today we´re about 30 miles from Santiago and the end of this long journey.  We expect to arrive by Tuesday if all goes well.  To bring you up to date, last Sunday we left Ponteferrada in the rain, by bus.  No purests here! We stayed in a small town called Villa Franca del Bierzo.  It´s the site of a Templar castle that´s pretty spectacular.  We stayed...
