August 20, 2010 - Rostock, Germany
As the summer is coming to an end, so is our cruise through the Baltic region. So, just like with my recent posts (Riga and Gdynia), there really isn’t much to cover from our last port in Warnemunde, other than the fact that it was, again, just that – our last time docking here. Carly, Kaitlyn, Nic and I set out in the charming beach town one last time to take some pictures and, this time, actually check out the beach. We didn’t have plans to actually set up camp and lay out (it...

Warnemunde is known as “The Gateway to Berlin, and should ring a bell because this was our second time docking here. The first time is when I took that ‘gateway’ and spent my day exploring Berlin. This visit, however, I decided to stay put and check out what “one of the most pleasant seaside resorts on the Baltic coast” had to offer. Our next stop would find me in a country that I’ve always wanted to visit – Germany! In school, although I studied German as a foreign language, I regrettably didn’t apply myself enough to speak the language fluently today. The main reason that Germany is a particularly special stop on the...

I've been slacking... but here's Canada-England!
June 9, 2010 - Rostock, Germany
Corner Brook, Canada Corner Brook was lame.  We had a meeting, crew drill and rehearsal in the morning.  Then, me, Beckie, and Erin took the shuttle (school bus) to "town".  It was a dreary day and was kind of pretty in the distance.  The little shopping center was awful so we got a cab to the bigger mall place.  It still wasn't that great, but at least it had some decent stores.  We ate at McDonald's and then got the shuttle back to the ship.  It was an uneventful day, but as I always...

A ferry good time in Berlin
June 20, 2009 - Rostock, Germany
We were really excited about going to Berlin and seeing a capital city so rich in recent history. All our expectations were met and so much more! We arrived at our campsite around 2-3pm and jumped on the train for the city centre. It's a busy city with lots to see so we headed straight for a couple of monuments. The first was Brandenburger Tor and then the Holocaust Memorial To The Murdered Jews Of Europe. The memorial covers the space of a full city block with identical width/length...
