June 17, 2016 - Dublin, Ireland

Taking Flight
August 5, 2015 - Dublin, Ireland
Our airport transfer was booked for 7am and I confirmed that last night so we had no chance of breakfast this morning and little chance to sleep late. We checked out of the hotel and settled our added costs for our meals at the restaurants then took a seat to wait for our driver.   We had hardly settled down when he arrived and we were soon whisked off, this time in a bit more comfort in a Toyota sedan. At the airport terminal we were greeted by a young man who directed us to a 'mobile...

Completing the Circle; Cashel, Greystones & Dublin
October 12, 2013 - Dublin, Ireland
Leaving Kinsale we motored into County Tipperary to the Rock of Cashel. This is the site of the conversion of the King of Munster to Christianity by St. Patrick in the 5th century. Originally a wooden complex, the stone chapel was built in the early 1100's and the cathedral was completed in 1270 after 35 years of construction. Our next stop was the coastal town of Greystones where we were greeted by Mayor Stephen Stokes. Mayor Stokes led us on a walking tour of the town and he hosted a tea...

First Day in Dublin
October 3, 2013 - Dublin, Ireland
Our first day of travel finally arrived...and a long day it was! We departed Huntsville at 11:00 AM and arrived in Dublin at 7:00 AM local time. After clearing immigration we joined Tom, our guide and coach driver to start our tour. Our first stop was Glasnevin Cemetery, the final resting place of 1.5 million, both ordinary folks and many of Ireland's heros including Dan O'Connell, Michael Collins and American-born Eamon de Valera. After breakfast it was off to the Guinness Storehouse and...

Orla and I’s Adventure to Ireland
October 10, 2012 - Dublin, Ireland
We were so excited to get to Ireland, and after the two hour flight that we spent watching Footloose we got off the plane and were shocked when we could see our breaths.  It was so cold!  We pulled out all of our sweaters/coats and layered up.  We managed to find the right bus, which was so much easier to do in English, even though I did respond in Spanish at one point…abroad problems.  The bus driver was great and made sure we got off at the correct stop.  At this point it was...
