Waterford is Ireland's oldest city, founded in 914 AD, and today is the fifth largest in the country with over 45,000 residents.  The Waterford Crystal factory operated here until early 2009 when disputes between new owners and locals forced the factory to close its doors for good.  Waterford Crystal is still manufactured in Germany and the Czech Republic, but no longer in the city after which it was named.
