Climbing, Caving and Canoeing in Vang Vieng
November 14, 2010 - Vang Vieng, Laos
Climbing mountains, caving and canoeing! Today we have opted for a trek to the waterfall and caves and a kayak down the river. GAP do not recommend tubing, although it seems to be all the rage in this town with t shirts, shorts and bags all advertising it! A hardy breakfast at a local restaurant, a little slow, but yummy. I get french toast with maple syrup (which comes as French bread toast with sugar :) ) and a very refreshing fresh fruit smoothie. Into the tuk tuk rickshaw taxi we hop...

Vientiane to Vang Viene A wee lie in this am. Breakfast is taken outside in the sunshine in a small court yard seating area. very cute. scrambled eggs or pancakes?! difficult choice...Pancakes with banana and maple syrup it is, oh and a cuppa tea of course. We meet in the lobby and take a short stroll through the beautifully quiet and charming streets of vientiane to a bicycle hire shop where we collect our transport for the morning! A few slightly ancient looking bicycles, mine pink!!...

Los 2 Vang Viengs
July 11, 2010 - Vang Vieng, Laos

Vientiane & Vien Vang, Laos
June 8, 2010 - Vang Vieng, Laos
Laos is hot! Like; really, really hot! And humid too... you take a cold shower and before you've even got your clothes back on you're covered in a thin layer of sweat. The good news is though, it's awesome too! As soon as we arrived in Vientiane we felt like we were a million miles from China. The place has a sort of laid back air about it a bit like the Caribbean. Apparently the Laos people believe stress is to be avoided at all costs (for some strange religios reasons), so nobody here is...

Vang Vieng i.e. heaven on earth
May 3, 2010 - Vang Vieng, Laos
Wow. Really wow. Vang Vieng is an adult’s playground that is very hard on the liver. You wake up, eat your first meal of the day at one of the many restaurants that play Family Guy or Friends on the TV and have really comfy bed lounge seats, then head to the river to go “tubing.” There is a river with a bunch of bars; rope swings, slides, and jumping platforms; great electronic music; permanent markers that people use to write inappropriate things on others; spray paint; free bananas...
