Malawi - Kande Beach and Nkhotakota
July 23, 2011 - Livingstonia, Malawi
We pulled into Steps campsite at Senga Bay, this was a lovely spot with a long clean beach. We ran in the area and on the beach and enjoyed many swims in the ‘surf!’ It really was just like being at the coast, a red flag flew warning... ‘Please don’t swim!’ There were dangerous cross currents within 10m from the beach and the sign warned that one should not swim more than 1.5m deep. I got dumped a few times and swept in deep water quickly. After 3 nights of wind and waves we decided...

Malawi - Nkopola Lodge Camp
July 14, 2011 - Nkhotakota, Malawi
The Hobbs'  (friends from Cape Town) were arriving at Club Makokola on Lake Malawi so we pulled into Nkopola Lodge which had a camp site a few kms down the road from them. This was not the best time to be at the lake, there were some beautiful sunrises and sunsets on the first two days but since then the days have been overcast and windy ruling out lake activities. We saw sunrises in our camp and sunsets at Club Makokola. The lake changes dramatically with wind direction and can go...

Malawi - Majete, Zomba, Liwonde
July 7, 2011 - Monkey Bay, Malawi
Saying goodbye to family and friends in Harare we made our way to the Mozambique border. What a surly bunch of officers, in fact they were so miserable it was hard not to laugh! The 3rd party insurance guy on the other hand was completely the opposite, a delightful man who seemed to agree that this was a very rude introduction to his country! We stayed overnight in Tete with friends of my family, what a wonderful time we had – thank you Carlos and Rhona! We reached the Moz-Malawi border...

South Luangwa
October 4, 2009 - Lilongwe, Malawi

Wild animals
September 30, 2009 - Monkey Bay, Malawi
