MOROCCO
October 11, 2012 - Chefchaouen, Morocco
Hi!  I know it has been a really long time since I have posted, and I have so much to tell you all, but I have just been so busy lately I haven’t had time to write.  I am going to try and catch up this weekend, and I am just going to start where I left off, with Morocco four weeks ago. My trip to Morocco was incredible, and there are so many stories, but I will have to settle with just talking about the highlights here.  What really made the difference was the program that I went on the...

Afrika
August 2, 2012 - Rabat, Morocco

marrakesh, morocco
December 14, 2010 - Marrakesh, Morocco
well its taken me a while, but i'm finally writing about morocco! we stayed in marrakesh for 4 nights, and both loved it. its a CRAZY place! jackie had organised transport from the airport to a hotel for us, as part of a competition she was doing at work. we hadn't booked our hostel at that time, so she had them drop us off at a hotel closet to the Djeema el-Fna square, the centre of the old medina. so we got out of customs (pretty much non-existant!) and a guy in a shirt and tie met us, and...

Last Day in Morocco
November 30, 2010 - Marrakesh, Morocco
No regrets...so although we were broke as two jokes, we decided to go out on a whim and buy last miute items that we REALLY wanted. Yes, we would be broke after our purchase, but at least we spent the money on things that we REALLY wanted and thought a lot about purchasing. I wanted this bracelet that turns into a jewelry box. It is Berber which is from the indigenous people in Morocco. It was beautiful! However, I couldnt talk down the price from the shop owner. He wouldn't go lower, so I...

New Medina
November 29, 2010 - Marrakesh, Morocco
Today, we left the old Medina to see the new Medina. Just like any city, there was public transportation, sidewalks, and buildings. I think one of the largest misconceptions that Americans have is that everywhere else in the world is SOOOOOO unindustrialized...which is false. Sure, Morocco is lesser developed than the states, but I wasn't taking bucket showers nor did I have to go to a well to get water. There is running hot water, cars, streets, street signs, etc. just like anywhere else. In...
