Kerala
March 9, 2010 - Kathmandu, Nepal
After a day of rest in Varkala we headed north an hour or so to Alleppy. Just inland from the coast are the famed Kerala backwaters, an 800km network of rivers and canals that are more laid back than the rest if India. This isn't saying much as the last shopping Saturday before Christmas is more laid back than India. January 15, 2010 - Kathmandu, Nepal
A funny thing happened on the way to India. As usual, we were excited and anxious to move on to our next destination. Sadly, Gonkie, our beloved pink mascot, was apprehended at the Johannesburg airport by local police!  Sunday, 15th November Today we leave India and head to Nepal. End of an era !! The border crossings in any country are usually a bit of a hassle, so India to Nepal, you expect the unexpected. Despite an official being on duty, for some reason he refused to take our passports. We all stood in line, but he pushed paper around his desk and kept his head down, ignoring us completely. Taking it all in is stride, Steve suggested we have breakfast while we waited for the official to open. So we...

“To give, this can be a dangerous thing, if we only give! By giving and giving only, you swallow man. He then only has one worry: to ask." Sister Emmanuelle in “J'ai 100 ans et je voudrais vous dire” (I am 100 years old and I wanted to tell you) "I've seen you for a while around here. How long are you doing here?" I ask Brian after a few minutes of silence sitting next to him on the chia shop steps. "Oh, I don't know, I'll see what happens. I just can't figure what exactly we're...
