VROOOOOM SHAKE RATTLE ROLL!!! A deep 6.5 magnitude quake rolled across the North Island this afternoon. "It was like a big, slow, single hoola-hoop role, type, motion," said Wellington resident Mark Jennings. "An interesting sensation." At Wellington Central Library bookshelves swayed, but no books were dislodged.   "It lasted about four to five seconds. It was a rolling motion not a sudden jolt." These are quotes from the local news source. We were in the hotel elevator at the time. We...

Another sunny day, with temperatures in the high 50s! We arrived in Dunedin and were picked up for an experience of the rarest wildlife viewing. Yellow Eyed penguins were there. I witnessed the fascinating Albatross soaring close to the Pacific Ocean. I hope my pictures captured the wonder of it all. We made our...

Friday 11th March - Sunday 13 March Beautiful beautiful beautiful!! This trip was supposed to be on the organised bus tour that I have been taking around NZ but we made it into our own little road trip as Joan had kindly let us have the car for the weekend at our disposal. And I'm so glad we did do it over 3 days instead of probably just half a day and a night with the bus tour. The drive there took approximately 5 hours through pouring rain. Though we were optimisitc about the weather for...

South of the South Island, A.K.A Southland funnily enough. So since it has been a no go with jobs, I decided to pick up the tour bus from where I left off (Queenstown) but this time with my Wee Scottish friend, Jamie. It's always good to have a travelling partner. We started in Queenstown, a first time for Jamie, I had been raving on about how good it was there and it really is, just not so much when its raining - which it did for the whole duration we were there, EXCEPT obviously the day...
