Looking around Lagos
October 16, 2017 - Lagos, Portugal
I was not feeling very well and decided to stay in the hotel and rest. In fact my head cold was so bad and my nose so sore that I stayed in our room and Margaret went down and picked some breakfast for me and then went back for hers. I appreciated the effort and enjoyed some bread and pastries and a boiled egg. I didn’t even think about toasting the bread in the kitchen of our suite until after I had finished eating. It was a 9am pick-up for Margaret and after she left I did a little...

Further South in Portugal
October 15, 2017 - Lagos, Portugal
This morning was an 11.30am start so we had plenty of time to sleep in, take a leisurely breakfast and pack our bags before we had to be ready for the bus. Margaret took the opportunity to walk up into part of the old town with her camera while I waited anxiously by the bus and our bags. Alex mockingly scolded her for being twenty seconds late for the bus but Margaret was unrepentant as she likes to use up all the available time. From Evora we drove south to Beja where we had an hour to...

Me Voy
October 10, 2010 - Lagos, Portugal
Today, we went to the museum that has the chapel for St. Antonio...okay....I am Christian...a Protestant...and I have always tried to understand the fundamentals of other religions, because religion interests me. Also, it is such a HUGE part of my life...... but I just don't get Catholicism. I know that we "serve the same God," but I just don't get its principles or its teachings. I feel as though the religion doesn't worship the right people. What am I talking about? Let me explain... I...

Portugal
October 9, 2010 - Lagos, Portugal
We woke up early to make the most out of the day. We had breakfast at the hostel and set off for to tour Lagos. We went to the first African slave market and the port. Afterwhich, we sat on the beach and then grabbed some lunch at the Chinese restaurant that we went to yesterday. After lunch, part of the group decided to do a mountain hike along a path that would take about an hour and 20 minutes, but it was pouring rain. I did set off to go with the group, but as we began the hike, I...

Getting to Portugal
October 8, 2010 - Lagos, Portugal
We woke up early to get to Portugal, but our first bus was late, making us miss our second bus. So we had 5 hours to kill in Sevilla, Spain where we walked around, checked out the gardens, and had lunch. We took the bus, and, by the end of the ride, I wanted to run off the bus! To our dismay, it was raining and night, but we needed to get to our hostel. Pause, I didn't know what to expect. I heard so many things about hostels, and I thought that there was going to be one room with two rows of...
