September 2, 2010 - Saint Petersburg, Russia
Wow! I can’t believe I’m actually saying this, but we finally made it – our last visit to St. Petersburg! Nine separate weeks we’ve visited this major Russian city, visiting three days and two overnights each time, spending a grand total of twenty-seven days, almost an entire month in one port of call! Isn’t that crazy?! So, I’m sure you can imagine that although grateful and appreciative that that length of time allowed me to see and do everything there is to do in St....

Eating, Shopping and the end of the Baltic!!
September 2, 2010 - Saint Petersburg, Russia
September 2 So I'm nearing the end of my Baltic summer, which is very exciting because that means the Mediterranean is around the corner!  We are so close to the end of our contract and it's bittersweet.  I've gotten so used to living on a ship now and my routine here, but can't wait to be back home with family, friends, and communication!  It's pretty much been the same around here, just cruises back and forth from Copenhagen and Stockholm.  We're down to 45 days left, which is just...

August 14, 2010 - Moscow, Russia
On August 13th we arrived in Russia for yet another one of our weekly three day stints, and I was all ready to create the “St. Petersburg # 7” file when I got some really great and surprising news – on the second of our three days, I would be escorting the day tour to Moscow! Now, not only was I surprised because this was a very special tour, one in which mainly only Officers (or “Stripes” as I call them) get to attend, but also because I didn’t find out that I was even going...

From Russia with Love
July 26, 2010 - Moscow, Russia
I have been wanting to go to Russia since I was little. There was  always something mysterious and exciting about the place. It was home  to the stories of Tzars and their extravagence, Lenin, Marx and  communism. It is the land of Siberia, harsh winters and vast landscapes. So I decided quite early on in my trip planning that Russia was one of  the places I wanted to see. To get to Russia is not difficult. To get  into Russia is another story. First you must have a letter of ...

August 9, 2010 - Saint Petersburg, Russia
On this, our sixth visit to St. Petersburg, I found myself with very few tours left to escort. In the past five weeks, I have done a pretty good job at getting on every excursion I was interested in. However, there was still one that I had yet to do – St. Petersburg Cathedrals. Now, if you can remember all the way back to my first St. Petersburg entry, then you’ll recall that I had the chance to visit many of the cathedrals in the city during the Highlights of St. Petersburg tour,...
