All's Quiet on the St Lucia front
November 8, 2010 - Castries, Saint Lucia
All’s Quiet on the St Lucia Front It's been quiet the past few days We haven't really been motivated to move on.  St Lucia and Mango Beach Inn specifically is just so darn comfortable thanks to Judith and Marie!  We’ve been to the pool, beach, pool beach lather and repeat..  We've all read a ton of hours and are missing our friends Sandra and Chris.  They must be safely back in Poole by now. Progress has been made however to leave this idyllic place as we have hired a Moorings 35...

Birthday fun with lanterns
November 3, 2010 - Castries, Saint Lucia
Sandra and Chris’ son Harry turned 9 while in St Lucia and we were fortunate enough to be invited along with them to Sam and Rachel’s great house perched on the top of Marigot Bay for his birthday celebration.  The highlight of the evening other than the great company was these great lanterns they lit and the glided off over the bay.  The idea is to send them off with a birthday wish.

Scuba Diving- November 6
November 6, 2010 - Castries, Saint Lucia
I finally completed a PADI course and can scuba dive.  What fun! I had picked up the PADI book in Santorini and erad the chapters along the way.  It was tough the first day as the visibility was less than 10 feet due to the hurricane.  We found a better spot, Anse Ti Ki, the second day and I had a bottom time of 40 minutes.  We did a drift dive where at 30 feet we let the mild current drift us along the ledge of a reef.  Fabulous!  We saw shrimp, huge crabs, 2 lobsters, 3 eels,...

Hurricane Tomas October 30
October 30, 2010 - Castries, Saint Lucia
What a mess!  I always wanted to experience really bad weather, sick person I am.  But, after going through Hurricane Tomas, I never want to be near one again.  We had only gotten off the yacht in St Vincent the day before.   It's funny because Ian had trouble finding the weather several days sailing and I teased him... oh you know it’s going to be the same, “10-15 kph blowing S to SE, 20% chance of rain and partly cloudy.”  Just like every weather report anytime I ever...

Arrival in Caribbean
December 14, 2007 - Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia
Arrived in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia, West Indies, at 1:00 pm after 2848 nautical miles and 24 days at sea.  The trip was becoming an endurance contest the end.  We were rotating shifts with regular monotomy.  3 hours on, 5-6 hours off, 2 hours on, then maybe 4 hours off. It was a complex schedule designed for 3 people. Some nights one got 6 hours sleep straight then others broken into 3 hours segments. All of our biological clocks we were totally out of any normal sinc.  Wind was very strong...
