Day 36 (Home again, home again, jiggety jig)
September 25, 2012 - Cape Town, South Africa
This was the last day of a really memorable journey. We were up early, packed up and drove the 120 km to Springbok where we stopped for a huge  breakfast. For the first time in a long time, there were now clouds in the sky.  Namaqualand (the part of South Africa on the West Coast just South of the Namibian border) which is usually an arid region was surprisingly green and the Spring flowers were everywhere.  They weren't in huge carpets of colour as we have seen them in previous years - I...

August 25, 2012 - Cape Town, South Africa
Travelled 464 Km today.  We're in the tropics and it's hot!We got up early and drove to the bird hide in the Sanctuary which is at a lovely waterhole.  We intended to spend half an hour before breakfast, but ended up being there 1 and a half hours.  Lots of birds and animals were coming down to drink.  A quite spectacular large eland among them, as well as impala, warthog, kudu, hartebeest and lots of birds.  The only thing we didn't see was rhino. We left at about 11 am and took the...

Weather is now much hotter.  Travelled 618 kn today. Preparing to leave
August 18, 2012 - Cape Town, South Africa
This being the first time we have tried blogging, this is a preliminary run. We are getting ready to leave on our long awaited trip into Africa.  2 more 'sleeps' and we're off!!!  On Monday we leave early in the morning, hoping to make Britstown or Hopetown and camp there for a night before moving on to the Botswana Border. If you'd like to follow us, please do, but naturally if this seems to you the most boring thing on earth, it's entirely up to you.

Bloemfontein via the Garden Route to Cape Town
February 6, 2012 - Cape Town, South Africa
Noddy and the Beast return Home Wow how can it be... a year gone but thanks to the blogs and pictures never forgotten, a wonderful adventure! We have moved back into our home and have been hectically busy getting things in order. Some people comment that they think it will be quite an adjustment for us after a nomadic year through Africa.... somehow I think it will be easy.  The excitement of seeing some of our friends and being back in our church made the first weekend a great feast for the...
