Durban, South Africa
August 26, 2010 - Durban, South Africa
Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy days :) We're in Durban on the east coast (well, Margate to be precise), and we've literally been sitting on our backsides for the last two weeks! So not too much to tell (as you can imagine), but we thought we'd post a couple of pic's anyway just in-case anyone thought we'd been kidnapped or turned into missionaries (!?)... Alex & Jinnie

Time for more travel
June 18, 2010 - Durban, South Africa
The last two days have been rest and relaxation (sort of) went into Durban city yesterday and had a look around.  Walked a ridiculous amount as I really didn't know where I was going and therefore wondered up and down the city street.  Was interesting though to see how everyone goes about there business in another city.  It absolutely poured rain while I was in the city for about two hours and it was funny to see all the street merchants miraculously pull out umbrellas from somewhere, and...

Hoppe Suisse!!! - Viva Espana, not so much
June 17, 2010 - Durban, South Africa
After a very quiet Tuesday, all attention turned to Wednesday with the Switzerland V Spain game to which we all had tickets, and then after the locals (bafana Bafana) were to play urguay, and everyone here would get really excited again. After the ordinary carry on from Sunday night, Monday was a generally quiet day.   The 4 Cape town jet setters (who had to sit through 8 degrees and storms it looked like on the TV), headed off early and it was just nick and I here doing very little and reading all the reports from Australia's first game, both online from home and in the paper here.  None surprisingly were positive, one journalist in the Durban paper teed off a long run and left no doubt where he thought we should play...

did anyone get the number of that bus?
June 14, 2010 - Durban, South Africa
To say it was a disappointing night would be an understatement.  Heaps of planning, years of expectation and a shitload of cash, gets us here to watch the first game and for that debacle to unfold I can't begin to describe how upsetting it was. However there is not going back, it is what it is, wins against serbia and Ghana would still probably get us through, but the embarrassment for a team still striving to say we belong here, is going to last much long er than this world cup. We all had...
