Boats, Lamb, & Ostrich
September 6, 2014 - Johannesburg, South Africa
Today, we got up early and took a boat cruise on the river near the Vaal Dam. I love being on the water! It is so relaxing and soothing. We danced, sang, and ate. The food was delicious! In South Africa, the primary dish is meat not a lot of fruits and vegetables lol. We eat a lot of meat here lol. After the boat ride, we headed back to Johannesburg for a night on the town. We went to Moyo's. Thre was a lot of excellent food! We had a party platter appetizer, and I had ostrich salad and a...

Safaris and Fun
September 5, 2014 - Johannesburg, South Africa
Today, we woke up early to go on a safari! Most images displayed of Africa in general are scenes of huts, animals, hungry children. I have not experienced this Africa. Instead, I've experienced a city just like any major city with luxury cars, restuarants, chic hangout spots, etc. However, today...we are off to see a different side of the country! Welcome to Africa
September 4, 2014 - Johannesburg, South Africa
I was so caught up in preparing for my trip to South Africa that I completely forgot to drink up the moment. More importantly, I was sharing this moment with one of my best friends. I missed this travel rush. I missed trying authentic ethnic foods, language barriers, and often the organized chaos I...

Finally Home
March 6, 2011 - Johannesburg, South Africa
I made it back to Atlanta, and today's big challenege will be to stay awake until normal EST bedtime.  I need to try and get ahead of the inevitable jet lag.  My day will be full of unpacking and doing laundry, but my top priority right now is finding some coffee. Thanks for reading my travel blog, our training program was a success so I might be doing this again in the future.

Goodbye South Africa
March 4, 2011 - Johannesburg, South Africa
Today was the last day of our training program. It was a lot of work, and I am exhausted, but I’m sad to be leaving. I have met so many wonderful people who are doing amazing work with few resources. There will still be a lot of work to do when I get back to the US, we need to help the trainees implement the things we talked about during the training program. I realize that I haven’t written much about what I see around here on a day-to-day basis (on the way to and from the training...
