Day 11 - San Sebastian, Spain
July 7, 2012 - San Sebastián, Spain
After a restless night I decided there will be no more red eye buses, trains, or planes for me for the rest of my life. Another great experience on a 12 hour bus ride from Santiago to San Sebastian (not!). Again, people were up chatting until 3am, couldn't figure out how to open the door to the bathroom on the bus, the bus stunk like BO, I had someone sitting an inch away from me crowding my space and to top it off I couldn't get comfortable and as usual feared I would miss my stop. I...

Sangria, Paella and Sunshine
August 26, 2009 - San Sebastián, Spain
So I have spent the last week or so in lovely Spain! I went to Nice from Turkey, and Deb continued on to Liverpool, so I was on my own. When I got there I discovered that all the hostels in Nice were for some reason booked out! I managed to find a centrally located hotel with cheap single rooms which was handy, but also meant I was very bored. I gave myself a pedicure, a treatment in my hair, read a book, slept a lot - I even went to the movies! I was so bored, so I was very excited to get on...

March 29, 2009 - San Sebastián, Spain
This weekend I went to San Sebastian. Finally there was nice weather on a weekend-it rains so much here-so Bo wanted to take me on this hike up one of the mountains to have a picnic. Friday was absolutely gorgeous, it was 65 and sunny, the perfect weather for a hike considering it was kind of a challenge to get up there. Some of the path was literally almost vertical, and we had to walk through a forest which would have been terrible if it were too hot and sticky out. We went to Super...

Right, you'll have that sand in your hair for days
July 18, 2008 - San Sebastián, Spain
I learned something today.  90% of surfing is paddling. 5% of it is sitting out there beyond the initial break, having badly-timed waves crash over you and pummel you with seawater while you make an attempt to successfully read, and catch, the next wave.  4% is spent trying to stand up, and the final 1%, that slice of heaven in which only the professionals reside, is standing on the board, upright like an intelligent biped, letting the ola carry you to the beach (where you fall off the...
