It's a Family Affair
March 12, 2009 - Sitges, Spain
Final destination for Spain,  Sitges! There is a more personal reason for going to Sitges and that's because as well as Kristina having family who live there, there was also an invasion from Motherwell this week in the form of a Mammy, Auntie and Granny! We both loved the campsite, El Garrofer as we got our first real go at playing Boules (recently bought in Barcelona), it doesn't matter who won but lets just say its one for the girls! Also the bus took 5 mins to get into Sitges or a...

Wow…where do I even begin? This was such an amazing experience; those of you who have gone to Mardi Gras in its prime might begin to understand what this was like. The biggest of the carnival celebrations takes place in Sitges, a short train ride from Barcelona. A week of rest and Carnival in Sitges!!!
February 3, 2008 - Sitges, Spain
This past week has not been the most adventurous for me. Since the accident on Tuesday I have been in bed literally all week up until yesterday. I no longer need my “crutch” but just have an embarrassing gimp as I walk. I enjoyed the time I had by myself while the girls were out. It gave me time to...

So right now in Spain there is an event going on called Carnival, which is basically a huge public party complete with costumes, parades, and interestingly enough....lots of drag queens. Its not uncommon to see people wearing costumes while grocery shopping, and almost all the little babies are dressed up in their strollers. It's adorable. Historically Carnival is a festival season that takes place before Lent, a time dedicated to religious devotion rather than partying. While I am not sure...

Sitges Carnaval
February 3, 2008 - Sitges, Spain
Last night was ridiculous. Sitges is this super small town and people were everywhere and there were soooooooooo many drag queens! We ran into practically all of the GSE group and were hanging out last night. When we first got there some of the girls had booked a hotel, so they went to get ready. A few of us didn't really have any reason to go to the hotel because we were already ready, so we went to get something to eat. It was GREAT food- mexican, but the plates were soooo small! Omg...
