September 10, 2012 - Göteborg, Sweden
Today was another glorious day, sat in a kebab house taking coffee and sandwiches nicked from the hotel breakfast, we commented on how fortunate we had been over the last couple of days. Today was another meteorological improvement including sun and a tailwind! Not realising that we had less than 5minutes of our weather peak remaining, as without warning rain poured from the clear blue sky. Today Pontus, another friend made on my previous quick stop in Gothenburg rode with us. Expecting...

Heaven?
September 9, 2012 - Göteborg, Sweden
After some serious rescheduling thoughts, involving 2 ferries back to Denmark and over to Norway in the hope of using the wind to our advantage, we discovered on waking that the wind had given up. Apparently Sweden has accepted our arrival and planned departure. Highly skeptical as to whether the lack of trees straining in the wind was because of the subsidal of our 48hr nemesis rather than being slightly further in land in the idyllic, misty grand designs haven, we half expected to be...

November 12, 2008 - Göteborg, Sweden
Returning to Egypt We touched down in Egypt, the birthplace of my parents and brother. It had been 5 years since I had first come here with my family, and it felt good to be back. After chatting with the friendly taxi driver, we checked in at the Windsor Hotel in downtown Cairo. The old hotel was a classic, in true Cairanese style, adorned with old furniture and posters from another era, and serviced with a clattering old-fashioned elevator. The managers pointed out a photo of Michael Palin,...

Rammadan on the Red Sea
August 26, 2008 - Göteborg, Sweden
After a couple of day's R&R in London I was back out to the airport for a flight to Gothenborg, Sweden to catch up with Ollie & Annika, and Marto - my old room mate from Perth.  Flying into Gothenborg was an experience in itself - the landscape was amazing and totally new.  The only pine forests I'd seen before were Gunn's plantations in Tassie. Ollie managed to break his previous PB of 150kmh getting to the airport to pick me up after a bit of miscommunication regarding the right...
