The American Version of Events
January 16, 2013 - Patong, Phuket, Thailand
The American: I find myself in another taxi going to some unknown place on a side of the world I never imagined I would lay eyes on. But here I am with Phuket fading away behind me and Singapore waving me in. I don't think my conscious self has even begun to realise yet that this is my life. Tonya's life now consists of jumping from city to city, country to country, and eventually continent to continent...this can't be right can it? Eighteen days into our travels, I feel it's time to relate...

Champions again
April 17, 2011 - Patong, Phuket, Thailand
The biggest disappointment of the trip occurred while the Custom were in the field, someone stole Dylan’s bag. The ACST has let local Thai kids come in with big garbage bags and collect cans, and sadly it looks like one of them has used it to take Dylan’s bag. In it was his phone, his wallet and all his money, not a great moment on the trip.   We all headed back to the hotel and got ready for the Phuket Sixes Welcome Dinner at the Karon Sea Sands Hotel. We got showered and change, and...

Cricket time
April 15, 2011 - Patong, Phuket, Thailand
The last morning in Patong started when my wife sent me a message to remind me that my article for Sportsbeat was due, which I had completely forgotten about. We had some breakfast in the morning, the others choosing the buffet breakfast (which we got for free, despite not being included in our room price!), while I had more sticky rice with mango. The others then went off to the markets to do a spot of shopping, while I sat down and tried to write an article about division seven football...

Party in Patong
April 13, 2011 - Patong, Phuket, Thailand
Still a day behind, but it's better than nothing!   Our flight to Phuket was delayed by half an hour, but this gave us a chance to purchase a litre bottle of coffee infused vodka for 20 bucks, bargain! When it was finally time to board the plane, we thought we’d be in the air and landing in Phuket before we knew it, but of course there was a twist. A group of about 30 arabs had boarded the plane, but they’d bought on an extra person. So, there was one too many people on board the plane...

IPL, and goodbye to Chennai
April 10, 2011 - Patong, Phuket, Thailand
After picking up the tickets, we made it back to the hotel in comfort, showered and got ready for the IPL. We walked outside the hotel and flagged down a rickshaw, and asked him to take us to the stadium. The journey was horrible – not only was it peak hour but there were a lot of people going to the cricket. The journey would normally take half an hour, but it took an hour and a half and boy was it hot on that rickshaw, especially with 4 of us in the back where you can barely fit 3...
