Uganda - Jinja and White Water Rafting
September 21, 2011 - Entebbe, Uganda
The border took a long time, firstly there was a huge traffic jam blocking incoming and outgoing vehicles.  The cops were trying to extract a bribe from a stubborn truck driver who would not budge till he got his papers back! Big trucks lined the road on both sides as far as the eye could see but finally there was a near paint scraping gap through the middle that we were directed to take. African borders are all a bit of a mystery, a maze of unmarked buildings, money changers and runners....

In at the Deep End - Luku to Nabugabo - 9th August
August 9, 2009 - Entebbe, Uganda
My cautious toe-dip suddenly became a headlong dive into the deep end of Ugandan-style travel, starting at 10 am with a 1 1/2 hour, white-knuckle, boda boda ride across the island to Luku, arriving in good time to catch the local free ferry to the mainland - in fact, 3 hours early. Last day in Uganda
August 4, 2008 - Entebbe, Uganda
This will be my last entry from Uganda. I fly out tomorrow morning for Kenya. I am ready to move on. Saturday I was able to go into Kampala to look around the town and pickup a few gifts. Sunday I went to the Botantical Gardens. While very nice, it was not exactly impressive. Enjoy the pictures and hopefully I will be updating this site from Kenya soon. I am promised the hotel is much nicer than the one here. We'll see...

Week two in Uganda
July 31, 2008 - Entebbe, Uganda
I was told I have not been updating this site enough during my journey. Well between the hit or miss internet here and no internet access at the hotel, it  has not been easy. Since last weekend I have not done anything exciting except go to work. On Tuesday we actually began working. But it was not as easy as you think. The Influenza lab is undergoing construction. They decided that this would occur while we are trying to work in there. Well, we had to take the show on the road. We have gone...

First weekend in Uganda
July 28, 2008 - Entebbe, Uganda
I am able to send this update during the workday, as there is once again another delay. It seems that the lab is having a Biosafety Biological Hood installed, thus we cannot work in the lab until maybe later this afternoon. Oh well... I was finally able to attach some pictures. There are two albums. One Uganda, contains pictures I have taken around the hotel, The Imperial Botanical Beach Hotel. The other pictures are of my journey to the Nile River. At 7am on Saturday morning, my guide...
