Busy Saturday and Sunday morning

We did a lot of TV watching and reading Saturday afternoon, finally livened up for happy hour! Enjoyed barbecue for dinner along with some fab champagne and Valentine's chocolate, then headed over to the next-door Desoto Speedway for Saturday night racing. They had stock cars, sprint cars (FAST!), and ... school buses! So crazy. And what an interesting crowd. Sunday Rusty won his first elimination round and has a bye run for Round Two, so...he's doing great! One driver hurt his back during...

Saturday morning

The fun continues here! Another nice morning, hot, sunny. Rusty got another qualifying run in early and will probably have another during the day. Watch for videos later...video camera is balky this morning so I hope to have better luck updating later. Last night we cooked out and had dinner with Rusty's friend Painter, our campsite neighbor. Friday the 13th!

We realized it was an unlucky day but are hoping for the best here at the race track. Very sad about the plane crash in NY, though. Last night Rusty grilled our dinner - steak! Yum. It was a pretty quiet night, watched TV, read books, worked. This morning was gorgeous - sunny and warm! Rusty finally did a qualifying run around noon. The video should be posted here soon. Back to a little work and keeping that sunscreen on...

Made it to the dragstrip!

Rusty drove until about 2am (yipes!), and we finally pulled over at a rest stop somewhere north of Tampa. We were up early (7:30am) and made the drive into Bradenton. Got parked and we are working on our computers, taking walks around the dragstrip, and drinking coffee!

We're off to Bradenton, FL this afternoon for drag racing! We plan to leave around 5pm, drive about 6 hours (including a truck stop, er, stop) and maybe stop and sleep at a rest area. Then we'll get up early in the morning and drive into Bradenton, hopefully getting there in time to have a full work day ahead of us. I'll post pics, etc. later!
