September 14, 2012 - Chicago, Illinois, United States
When we got into Chicago we were picked up by a coach and taken on a 3 hour tour of the city which was very good. Again the weather is beautiful. There are some beautiful buildings and a lovely waterfront which overlooks Lake Michigan. We were dropped off at our hotel where the room was huge with a massive shower and beautiful bathroom. We were both shatered from the night before so we didnt rush around. We popped out and I needed to pick up some things from Walgreeens. We then walked and...

Washington - Chicago
September 13, 2012 - Chicago, Illinois, United States
We had a visit to Capitol Building booked for today and Mark was heading a group of 10. We left the hotel with plenty of time to spare for all the security checks they make and walked to the Capitol building. It was a great tour and got to see loads inside. OK....I'd like your help in making this blog interactive!  One of the sincere joys of my time on the road is thinking about what I'd like to write next, writing it, and hearing comments from all of you...some left on the blog, some sent to me backchannel.  It keeps me going...and I thank all of you for being with me on this reluctant journey. But....I've decided this blog thing needs to be a bit more interactive.  So here's what I'd like to do, and I request that you help me make my blog...

Stepping Out
January 15, 2012 - Streator, Illinois, United States
Martin Luther King, Jr. once said, "Faith is taking the first step, even though you can't see the complete staircase."  God how true this is...and how true that human nature makes us want to see all before we step.  While there's some good wisdom in "advanced planning"....LOL, (of course)...Dr. King's words are so vitally important to all of us...because let's face it...sometimes we can't see the whole staircase....or even 3 or 4 steps ahead.  What are we to do then?  Freeze and not step...
