I used to like the sound of trains...
July 9, 2017 - Van Riper State Park, Michigan, United States
One of the challenges when pointed in the homeward direction is to still enjoy the journey.  We were up and out of camp by 7:35 a.m.  As Bill drove down the road I checked out the map for any “points of interest”.  Sure enough, by 8:45 a.m. we were in Rugby, North Dakota at the “Geological Center of North America”.  Who knew?  At 3:25 p.m. our little RAV4 turned over 120,000 miles; one day short of the 5-year anniversary of my purchase.  That’s only 24,000 miles a year.  We...

{2013 July} Alec's First Camping @ Lake Ann Camp
July 9, 2013 - Lake Ann, Michigan, United States
Lake Ann Camp, Lake Ann, Michigan I started out just searching for a summer camp, the reason was to get Alec off the Video Games. The task proved a bit harder than I thought. It was tough trying to find a camp that would accept High Schoolers and close by. I finally found one in the Traverse City area, about an Hour from where I live. I have never been to Lake Ann and I have never met anyone that has gone to this camp. I was really excited to sign him up after watching all the youtube...

{2014 Jan} Challenge Mountain: School Trip
January 15, 2014 - Boyne Falls, Michigan, United States
What a great way to kick of a new year. Today, I drove Danielle up to Challenge Mountain to meet the rest of her class for a school trip. We left at 7:30am on Tuesday to drop Alec off at the High School. The school bus at the elementary was set to leave at 8:30am for Challenge Mountain. So I decided we had enough time to stop at McDs for breakfast. To my surprize, Danielle ate almost all of her breakfast and then we headed out the door. We arrived at the Lodge and the waited inside for the...

Mustangs. Pride of the American West and American
January 12, 2014 - East Jordan, Michigan, United States
This review is from: Born Wild - The Soul of a Horse (Paperback) January 12, 2014 I really enjoyed reading this book. I was given this book free from netgalley for a review on my perspective of this book.A tale of a novice horsemen who got more than he bargained for after entering the arena of horsemanship. Can you imagine being a novice around horses and decide to tackle the biggest challenge of any professional horseman, bonding with horses  who have never been touched by human...

But if you try sometimes, you get what you need.
June 1, 2013 - Shepherd, Michigan, United States
We were the only ones in the breakfast room this morning.  This was a Saturday and also a bank holiday weekend in Ireland.  Other folks were sleeping in and enjoying their holidays.  We had our last breakfast of scrambled eggs and rashers.  We are really going to miss those rashers!  Irish bacon is one of the things I really look forward to when traveling in that country.  Delicious! Our trip to the airport was uneventful.  I was tired and oddly enough, ready to go home.  I write this...
