Day 11 – Glacier National Park

Today we spent the day in Glacier National Park.  It is an incredibly beautiful park.  The mountains are covered with green trees and have lots of rivers, lakes & waterfalls that are rushing with water.  Most of the mountain tops still have snow and/or glaciers on them.  We learned that in 1850 there were over 150 named glaciers but today there are only 25.  We stopped to hike into a few different spots, most had waterfalls at the end of each trail.  We drove the entire length of the...

Day 10 – Hungry Horse, Montana

Today we made our journey to Glacier National Park.  We left Helena and headed north.  We traveled the back roads for most of the journey which made for a more interesting drive.  We passed through many small towns which we have been warned in both Wyoming & Montana to follow the speed limits for the small town police will definitely ticket you.   We followed the road on the south side of Glacier National Park to reach our cabin.  We are only about 8 miles from the west entrance to the...

We arrived in Hungry Horse, MT on July 7 and spent several days exploring Glacier National Park. They had a free shuttle bus that took us on the Going to the Sun Highway which goes up to Logan Pass.  It was around 25 very slow miles to Logan Pass and then we continued down the other side on another shuttle bus.  What beautiful scenery on the way.  Each place we go seems to get better and better.  Logan Pass had lots of snow and great views.  We drove back up one day and went hiking. ...
