Historic Route 66
July 30, 2012 - Amarillo, Texas, United States
We decided that the great state of Texas should get as little of our time as possible, so we traversed the panhandle. This turned out to be a good decision as Interstate 40 often parallels Historic Route 66. Of course the Exit sign for the town of Shamrock, TX drew us off I-40 where we discovered a wonderfully restored Route 66 Art Deco gas station and cafe. We again exited I-40 in Elk City, OK to visit a Route 66 museum. It contained several vintage automobiles as well as other memorabilia...

September 29, 2010 - Amarillo, Texas, United States
www.bigtexan.com . And no I didn’t attempt it if you saw how thick this steak is I think you wouldn’t be able to stomach it either. Sadly, Lily's hula hoop got crunched when we put the slide out on the RV...victim of unfortunate storage! She thinks it may still work, though. We swam in the indoor pool and lounged in the hot tub. Rusty cooked...

Friday and Saturday
June 21, 2008 - Amarillo, Texas, United States
We finally left about 5pm on Friday afternoon...first stop was dinner at the Cracker Barrel in Oxford, AL. A man at a table near us complimented Lily and Lee on their nice manners and good behavior at the table...all so true! Back on the road, L and L hit the bunk about 9pm, and Rusty motored on. We finally stopped at Olive Branch, Mississippi, very near Memphis, at a Flying J. Dumped (sewage) and pumped (gas), then slept a while. Back up at 5:30am to start the day's trip, kids still...
