More Rocks!
June 11, 2013 - Green River, Utah, United States
Today we traveled to Bryce Canyon National Park via the Dixie National Forest and the Red Canyon. Along the way we spotted a funny sign for a fishing resort with "No Fishing' permitted. At Bryce we were treated to more incredible sights! The high altitude, over 9000 feet, offered welcome relief from the heat. Again the pictures do not do justice to the views. We've included a shot looking down showing people on the trail below to give some idea of the scale. We noticed that many...

A Rocky Road
June 10, 2013 - Kanab, Utah, United States
We were fortunate to experience a cooling trend...highs expected to be only about 102 deg F, much cooler than yesterday. We first visited the "Valley of Fire," Nevada's first and largest state park. Wonderful rock formations. The camera does not do them justice. Then on to Zion National Park in Utah for more great scenes. So, it's been a "Rocky Road" but the rocks are beautiful. We came across a herd of roaming buffalo on our way to our overnight stop. Actually it was a buffalo ranch.

Sabbatical, Day 1
July 2, 2011 - Salt Lake City, Utah, United States
The most significant thing I've noticed is how much time I have when I'm not reading/writing emails. I read a lot today. No biggie, just reading. Nice. Tomorrow, I'm off to Salt Lake City to check in with my mom, sisters, brothers-in-law, and more. I'll be spending the 4th of July there.

25. Driving Down to New Mexico, Colorado and Utah
March 29, 2011 - Moab, Utah, United States
We drove along Highway 10 and left a dusty Arizona and entered the even more barren New Mexico, our fourth state on this road trip.  (Not counting our separate trip to Hawaii).  We noticed that the terrain seemed to be getting more barren and the temperature higher, the further we drove along, as we entered the Chihuahuan Desert. It is not like the deserts of North Africa, as there are a few shrubs that populate the parched surface, as well as the odd tumbleweed that blows across the roads....

Van Hollywood tot Utah
November 22, 2010 - Sandy, Utah, United States
