February 2, 2009 - Livingstone, Zambia
Hello from Livingstone, Zambia! We arrived here last night, after spending several days traveling along Lake Kariba in Zambia (which included a nice stop of two nights spent on a houseboat). We're here on the Zambian side of the border for another day or two, then we'll be splitting off from the overland truck for a couple of days in Zimbabwe. We'll be staying in Victoria Falls then catching a local bus from there into Botswana to meet up with the truck at Chobe National Park. We're...

Lusaka
January 26, 2009 - Lusaka, Zambia
Hello everyone, We've made it to Lusaka, the capitol of Zambia. Though it is described as a non-tourist town in the guidebooks we've taken a liking to it. Compared to all the other large cities we've seen in this trip through Africa Lusaka feels heathy and vibrant. It seems that there's a real economy here which has people going to and fro with a purpose. Many other places we've been have felt a bit stagnant, stores with relatively empty shelves and even less customers. People on the...

August 15, 2008 - Chipata, Zambia
Saturday, August 9th I was up before the crack of durn left Chachacha backpackers at 5am to catch the 6 hour bus journey to Chipata in the east of Zambia near the border with Malawi. Accompanying me was a couple I had met at the backpackers in Lusaka. Belen was from Spain and Guillaume from France. They were living in Madrid, but travelling the world for a year. The bus journey ended up taking 8 hours. There was lots of children crying for most of the Journey, and every person near me...

Lusaka "Stop that thief!"
August 8, 2008 - Lusaka, Zambia
Monday 04th I checked out my room, paid the extortionate room charge and made my way to the bus station. I jumped on one of the fairly luxurious looking 'Booker' buses to Lusaka. About 2 hours into the journey I began the relies the nice shinny paint work on the outside of the bus was just a visaed to a typical African bus experience that I am becoming more accustomed too. However this journey did have a few extra surprises up it's sleeve. Firstly the clucking that I presumed was a engine...

Livingstone and Victoria Falls
August 3, 2008 - Livingstone, Zambia
On Wednesday 30th,headed to the Botswana/Zambia border by minibus taxi. The driver informed us that if we was to head along this stretch of road at the correct time of day (around 6pm) we would see elephants walking across the road heading for the Zambezi river to drink. We were a few hoursto early unfortunately. Once at the border we passed through Botswana immigration with ease and boarded the boat that would take us across the river to Zambia. The boat, as you would expect, was very...
