Well I arrived in Beijing in one piece, had to say goodbye to the centre first though which was a tad emotional. Last day at the centre was the best ever was feeding the bears which is a fun job as have to hide the food in random hard to reach places and get to watch them find it, also got to play with my baby gibbon dumdum and got to bathe the baby elephant! Bathing the baby was amazing as not done this before only bathed the adults, really cool baby kept rolling over and having a good old splash. All the volunteers stayed up late in evening with few beers and a good laugh, reallky good last day. Was leaving centre at 6.30am 12th november so got up and watched the sunrise over the lake surrounded by all the dogs and watching the gibbons on the islands on the lake as they sing their morning chorus, one of the girls took me for a quick last time boat ride around the lake which was so peaceful at that time of day, did shed a tear. Shed a load more wen had to say goodbye to everyone, really made some good friends, will miss the centre laods, was my home away from home!!!
Anyway got to bangkok airport with plenty of time to spare then when check in opened they wouldn't let me board flight with a one way ticket so i had a panic and a pain in the arse mission to book a flight out of china, ended up costing me 70quid to get a flight from hongkong to bangkok, but was worth not losing my flight to beijing, soooo stressful tho, bit all my nails off!!!! Then had the added stress wer polly's phone (friend im meetin) not recieving txts so had to pray she remembered wot time and place we wer meeting, thankfully all worked out fine and met her at arrivals and manged to find our hostel which is amazingly lovely. Today had my first day in beijing, got our bearings and had a wander marvelling at the neonness of it all. Wandered around all day got to see some beautiful lakes, temples, gardens and ate real chinese food, noodles for 24p!!!! Its so so so cold here in comparison to thailand, bit of shock to the system. Gona have to purchase a hat and scarf, tomoro off to see the famous Tianamen square and the ancient forbidden city and then over next few days going to the great wall of china eeks!!! So excited im gona see the great wall of china, can't believe it!!! Trying to learn some chinese buts its really difficult, struggling to pronoiunce thank u in chinese (xiexie). Anyway off to beddie byes after 8hrs of walking today i need a warm bed. Zietien (bye) x x
