Silence

August 18, 2007 - Dharamshala, India

choe

Choeyang, the monk I spend most of my time with. Lunch and dinner, noodle bowls after noodles bowls, day after day, in silence and the glow of the computer screen when there is no power outage.
The rest of my time is spent giving an english class in the afternoon and quiet meditation.

See you next entry.

"In mindfulness practice, there is no goal, no journey, you are just mindful of what is happening here. There is no promise of love and light or vision of any kind, no angels, no devils. Nothing happens, it is absolutely boring"

"Mountains and rivers don't get tired of being mountains and rivers."
"Travelling the path means you get off everything, there is no place to perch."
"Boredom is important, because boredom is anticredential. Credentials are entertaining, always bringing you something new, something lively, something fantastic, all kinds of solution. The introduction of boredom and repetitiousness is extremely important. Without it, we have no hope."
Chogyam Trungpa.
