Opening Night!

September 9, 2007 - Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

Well, things have come and gone so quickly. We had our last rehearsal, the Farewelcome Party, and opening night. CrAzY!

On top of that, in the past two days my tire has gone flat twice and I've had to change my tires 4 different times now. P.S. Changing a flat tire in Vegas in 100 degree weather is NOT FUN! Not fun at all! Luckily the first time I was pulling out of my garage, the second time I was leaving work.

Okay, now that my frustrations are out...Opening night went really well. It was the first time I have ever tried on the costumes. It was the first time I ever got to dance in the costumes. All of it live for the first time with an audience. I had a few brain farts, but no major spills or slip ups. I got by. Of course I was nervous, but I did fine. The most nerve wracking part I think was the Samson number. That is the number where basically I am naked on stage. I did it, and I am sure by the end of the contract it will be nothing. My favorite number in the show is Top Hat. Its a number with 40 dancers (guys & girls) dressed up in tuxedos with canes and top hats. Its a fun number. I think it also looks good from the audience. All the girls seemed to do good as well. No girl came tumbling down the stairs. One girl did trip up the stairs, but luckily not down the stairs. We climb alot of stairs in the show. My opening costume (my vest in particular) has 666 Swarovski crystals on it. It is actually a little bit heavy...like I am wearing armor or something.

On Thursday they had a party for the new people and for the people leaving the show. It was held at a club after the second show. The new people had rehearsal so we didnt make it to the party until around 2:30am. So we missed out on alot of the festivites, but it was still a good time. They give out awards from previous six month contract. Awards like who farts the most on stage, who has the best abs, who has the best showgirl walk, who is most likely to call in sick, who makes the most mistakes, etc...and there is a boy and a girl winner for each category. So it makes for some good laughs.

Well, its pretty late here. I just wanted to post an entry and some pictures because I haven't updated in a while. I will post again here soon with some more in depth information regarding the show and costumes.

Until next time,

Take care,

Matthew
