Well, I am here! I made the move! It's nice! It's fine! Not having a job is fun! LoL...and when I mean job I mean a waiting tables job. LoL...It has been fun jumping back into things. I have been to many auditions already. I have auditioned for two brand new broadway shows, and probably about 10 other gigs. Some days I go to only one audition and sometimes I go to three. My schedule is completely different from Vegas. In Vegas I would be up to the wee hours of the night (morning) and sleep until about 3:00pm. LoL...Now I go to bed around midnight or 1am to wake up every morning at 8:00am to audition!
I am sorry to report, I still haven't "gotten a job". But thats okay! It's only been a week or so! I am happy to report that I have had much success with one audition in particular! I auditioned for a national tour this past Monday. I have now been in to audition 3 times for the show. And on all three days I danced and sang. So I danced 3 times and sang 3 times! I am very excited with my performance and happy that I made it all the way through. Now, I wait! It could go either way! I could get the job or I could not get the job! They said they would be making calls around the end of April. Rehearsals for the show start in August and the tour would start in September. It has been an exciting week nonetheless. You never know!
As for my room! It's not that bad! It's small, but its enough! It's bigger than I thought. It still is only about 5 1/2 by 9 1/2 feet...but it works. I am really close to everything. I walk EVERYWHERE! I am literally a couple blocks and a few avenues away from Times Square! All the Broadway shows are really close as well!
I will most likely start looking for a job towards the end of next week. I had a cushion from Vegas to help me get by the first two weeks! I tell ya, this business is a crazy one! It's alot of being in the right place at the right time. You never know! It's almost like playing the lottery!
There are a few more auditions coming up next week as well that I look forward to attending. The national tour of The Wizard of Oz, and the national tour of Oliver!, and I think sometime down the road the national tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang will be auditioning.
I will keep you all posted though and let you know if I ever get any good news! Auditioning is almost like a full time job! And it is very exhausting! And mentally exhausting!
At least the weather has been good! No snow, which makes it easy to walk to the auditions!
Take care everyone!
Love,
Matthew
