After they spent the day in Brussels, Dave, Keller, and Eric took the train to the Netherlands and met us at Boudines house on Friday morning. We took the train into Amsterdam and spent the day walking around and checking out the city. We toured the Tulip museum as well as the Red Light District and many streets in between. Amsterdam is a unique city and the Red Light District was much different than I pictured it. It was really open and there were a lot of people there, including little kids. I didn't really know what to expect before we went, besides what I had heard from others. Though some things were a little shocking it was a unique experience to see a city so different from where we live. Amsterdam is a huge city with a ton of people and it was a little overwhelming. The city Boudine and I visited last week (Hoorn) was a lot like a smaller Amsterdam with fewer people, and more to my liking. Saturday, we did a lot more walking and also went to the Rejks Museum as well as the Anne Frank Museum. At the Rejks Museum we saw a collection of Rembrant paintings including the famous "Night Watch". After a long day of walking and sight seeing we had dinner in Amsterdam before we took the bus back to Boudines. Tomorrow we are going to Volendam and Edam for some bike riding and sight seeing and Monday we leave for Paris. After four days in Paris we will unpack Friday, only to pack again as we leave for Croatia Saturday. We will be camping in Croatia for 12 days and return around July 16th. As soon as I get the pictures of Amsterdam from the guys I will post them for everyone to see. I hope everyone is doing well and I will continue to update my blog as often as I can. Take care!
