Buon giorno from the Italian Riviera

December 3, 2007 - Finale Ligure, Italy

Finale Ligure at night from Hotel NorisAfter a stop over at Pisa to climb the Torre Pedante we headed west around the Ligurian coast to spend a few days at Finale Ligura. What brought us here was a a wild stab in the dark, but the area is just beautiful. Our room in the Hotel Noris gives us views over the Meditteranean with views south towards Monte Carlo. The days have been clear and sunny, just what we needed after the cold in Central Europe.

Us with Varigotti behindWe have explored Finalborgo, the old part of the town and went to an antique market and walked for kilometres along the beach promenade. The area reminds us of those Italian movies with lots of scooters, winding roads along the waterfront and lots of tunnels. The hotel is a family concern and we have been well looked after here with lots of good Italian cooking and of course, great red wine.

Ross is adamant that the beach side cafes are fantastic ... he loves Finale Ligure.

We leave from here on Wednesday to stay in Orange, near Avignon for a few days. Unfortunately the laptop has decided to go on holidays too and we cannot take advantage of the wireless networks and skype in our hotels. As we have all our photos on the laptop, hopefully it is only a small hiccup:-)).

So for now, arrivederci from us
