About us

Sometime in 2003/4 the McGregors, Wilsons and Smiths decided to go to the World Cup Rugby in 2007. Most likely, Bruce planted the seed with his article and photo in the Mudgee Guardian during the 2003 world Cup in Sydney.

It was definitely during the Waratah Hotel trivia nights when, as the McWillsmiths team, we firmed our resolve and began to plan seriously. Vague notions became maybes which became 'let's look into it some more'. When we decided on a tour package, McWillsmiths became a going concern.

Over regular 'team meetings' we allocated jobs, began a journal, booked tickets and accomodation and began the countdown. We were on the road to WRC 2007!

About our trip

Our trip begins in Sydney on 13 th September with the long haul to London via Dubai, then on to our hotel adjacent to Kensington Gardens. On the 15th we will enjoy the singing of the Welsh while cheering the Wallabies to victory at Millenium Stadium. Following several days in London we catch the ferry from Dover to Calais, and collect our 'people mover' - a Renault Trafic. A leisurely 3 days will take us to Soubès near Montpellier where we will base ourselves in the home of Brian and Sonjia Montomery for the next 3 weeks. Taking in the local attractions, food and wine will be a pleasant interlude to rugby games in Montpellier, Bordeaux and the Quarter Finals in Marseilles. We have Saturday tickets, Sterling, so are counting on the boys to win the Pool.
After the Quarters, everyone is heading off in different directions and hopefully will continue the postings.
