After leaving home in Plymouth at 6:30am yesterday, I finally arrived at JFK around 6:30pm (NYC Time). The flight was nice and uneventful with some good movies to chose from, and my personal favourite, a series of Mike Tyson documentaries.
After arriving at JFK I jumped on a transfer bus which took me to Grand Central station, then onto my hostel. It was a very surreal day, especially considering how tired I was. The real 'hit-home' moment was coming along the highway, approaching Manhattan. The sun was just setting and I had a glorious view of the Manhattan skyscraper skyline bathed in an orange-sunset background - fantastic.
The hostel is on West 45th St which is right next to Times Square. The guys/girls who run the place are all really helpful and the room is pretty decent. Ive been sharing with Bill the Scotsman, a German guys who doesnt speak English and an Israeli chap.
First on the agenda for my first day was the Empire States Building. I went for the highest option which was the Observation Tower no the 102nd Floor - not bad for someone who's scared of heights!! What a spectacular view!!
Time to chill out this afternoon as im still catching up on sleep so plenty of lazing about and planning the itinerary for the next few days.
Not much time left on the PC so gotta head off now..
Stay tuned....
