City living

April 25, 2008 - New York, New York, United States

Today had a pretty surreal start. Imagine....waking up to the angelic tones of Mariah Carey..huh I though...must be someones Ipod. To my surprise, a trip to the window proved me wrong. Mariah Carey was singing outside my window on a mobile stage as part of a American Radio Station promotion. Not a bad way to wake up eh!!

Today I headed North on 7th Avenue to central park with my buddy Tony. He's a born and bred Seattle beer monster who's been partying his way around the states for 3 months. I couldnt believe how amazing Central Park is. Not only is it one of the most beautful places I have ever seen, but what sets it apart from most places is the atmosphere. It was a gorgeous sunny morning and the park was full of people jogging and ball players playing in one of the many ball parks. There was an undescribable feel good factor which you dont get in the UK. Everyone is so friendly and I asked to join in pretty much everything from a baseball game with the 'Brooklyn Dodgers' to a game of basketball with some downtown brothers! Through fear of embarrasment I said no thanks to the b-ball. Think it would have been a case of 'run rings around the white boy'!

Every new day I spend here make me fall in love with this place a little more. I could have spent a whole day in Central Park just watching everybody. The zoo was incredible too and I'll get some pictures up as soon I can.

I always maintained that I could never live in a city. New York's making me seriously reconsider. What a place.
