ThaiMos & Bike Rides

October 12, 2007

The fashion for young thai people seems to be similar to the UK, think of a 15 year old EMO, and make them Thai. We've named them ThaiMO's and like to 'Spot them'
We're in Kanchanaburi, which is west of Thailand, its much nicer here than Bangkok, which was sweaty, crowded and hectic. The weather is loads better here, more of a typical monsoon (great) and seems to rain at 5.30 each night. Got lovely and sunburnt today, then it PROPERLY RAINED. so now I am bright red and soaking wet. Its very pretty.
Kanchanaburi is famous for being the home of the 'Bridge over the river Kwai' so, we came to see it. We hired bikes so we could visit a museum about it, and then go the other way to the bridge. If our hostel, the bridge and the museum were drawn on a map it'd be a straight line, the museum 2km to our right, and the bridge 3km to our left. IT TOOK US 3 HOURS TO FIND THE MUSEUM. then a further 3 to get round that and back the other way to the bridge. so now i have a sore bum.
The museum was interesting, it showed lots of things about how the POWs had to live and had loads of letters and cuttings from survivors. Unfortunately when we got to the bridge it seemed to me like just another a big tourist attraction, but I suppose if it wasn't, I probably wouldn't be here.
