Taj Mahal!!!

April 8, 2007 - Agra, India

Taj Mahal It's sooo beautiful! It's even nicer in real life! I spent the afternoon inside the gardens yesterday just staring in astonishment - you could sit there for hours! And then I watched the sunset. It's so amazing, it's not just beautiful but magical and the atmosphere is incredible. Today has been really good fun as I bumped into two spanish girls, one is from Madrid! We went to see Agra Fort together and then went for a veeery nice lunch. Afterwards we went to this place where the workers showed us how they make all of the handicrafts - in the same way that the Taj was built. Just about to get a train to Jaipur - will post from there! xx

Wow, memories! Sorry I never got round to emailing about places to visit. If you have time to get across to Amritsar it's really beautiful, and you can go to the border closing ceremony at nearby Wagah which is hilarious. If you're heading north to Himachal Pradesh, Nek Chand's Rock Garden at Chandigarh is fantastic, but there's not much else in Chandigarh, although you may meet a Sikh man offering to find you accommodation!

Very nice pictures!!!
It's actually amazing because I only know those places you've mentioned through the book I'm using to teach English hehe.
Hey! Wherever you go in the world there're always Spanish people around... according to Mirjam they're the Japanese of Europe and no offense meant but I think she's got a point ;-)
Take care and big hug from the distance.

It IS even more beautiful in real life! When I went I was so afraid that I had built it up too much in my mind beforehand, but it still blew my socks off... Hope you love Jaipur, too! Amber Fort is well worth a visit while you're there. If you have time, try to get a sleeper train out to Jaisalmer - one of my favourite places, it's built out in the middle of the Thar Desert and you can take camel safari trips out there - though it's probably getting pretty hot out there by now! Try the makhania lhassi - made with saffron - it's delicious.
Enjoy the rest of your travels - it's lovely to revisit India through you! xxx
