Sorry about the no-post.

June 9, 2007 - Barcelona, Spain

hey everyone!

So...last week, I was trying to get my Skype to work (which is a program that allows you to call people from your computer for super cheap). That is why I did not post an entry. But so long as this internet connection that I'm stealing right now holds out, I am putting a bunch of pictures up. I did a lot this week and last week. Let's see, where to start...Last week I went to Rome for the first time. We don't have so much time there because we have to take a train from the ship and it takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get there, so it's about 2.5 to 3 hours travel time...which cuts into the day considering we have to be back on the ship by 6:30 pm. But I saw the Colloseum, which you will see photos of on the photo page. It was really cool actually. I had seen so many pictures of it in Art History and such but I had no idea how huge it was. That's all I got to do in Rome and this week we had Boat Drill that day so I didn't even go to Rome. Next week we're gonna see Vatican City. Maybe catch a glimpse of the Pope. This week I saw the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I took all the cheesy photos of me pushing it up. It's funny because you can hear all these people fighting ("NO! MOVE YOUR HAND DOWN! NO DOWN!!! WAIT, I CAN"T CONTROL YOUR FINGERS! MOVE THEM TO THE RIGHT! NO, MY RIGHT!!!") And everyone looks dumb with their hands in the air.. Darn I should have taken a picture of that! Then Victoria and i had a nice lunch at a little sidewalk cafe. On our way back to the ship, we basically got robbed on the train. We bought round trip tickets, but nobody told us that we needed to "validate" them. What's the point of buying them then? So a very sweet train conductor guy took 5 Euros from us because we didn't have some number on our tickets. Thanks Italy. Thanks a lot. On Wednesday, when we were in Naples, we took a train to the Ruins of Pompeii. That was cool, but it is SOOOOOO vast that everything started to look the same, and you're walking on uneven rocks so my feet were just cramping and i was getting cranky. But I got some great pictures. Those were the main points of interest in the last two weeks. I think I might take a bit of a break from all the sightseeing and try to save some money in the next couple weeks, because it can get EXPENSIVE. With train fare, and admission to these places, and water and food...it adds up. I definitely wanna see the Vatican though. That's a must. We're in the single digits with how many weeks there are left on this ship! WOO HOO!!! Nine more! Then I come back to Sunny California. YAYAYAYAY! Thanks for being such devout readers and I will talk to you all soon. Miss you!

Your pictures gave us a good chuckle. I will give you some hints in Sorrento in a separate email like we talked on the phone. Also some info on the Vatican. We went there and it was really impressive.

Love,

Dad and Toni
