We organised our bus from Barcelona down to Benidorm (which seems to be the 23rd county of the UK ie full of holidaying brits). Took us 6hrs and a taxi ride the other end got us to our new home which is a small village called Finestrat. We are staying at The Orange House hostel and camping in their back yard. We have a kitchen and bathroom and a log fire at nights to keep us warm so suits us well. We have hired a car for a reasonably cheap price so we have wheels to get us out and about.
The climbing is everything and more than what you would think. This is why we left Australia, we have finally found easy multi pitch sport routes bolted exceptionally well with rock that does not crumble when you pull on it. There is so much rocks and climbing here it is not funny. Everywhere you look it´s another cliff with our names on it. We have been taking it fairly easy for the first week or so, doing simple grades and only short days since it has been awhile since we climbed. But we are both just about ready to start pulling hard again. Love it, it´s brilliant here.
We have been here less than a week and the owners want us to manage their hostel while they are away in the UK for a week. We are already getting free camping in return for an hours work a day and now they want to pay us. That bloody work seems to follow us everywhere ...along with that free accommodation!!
we have had a few rest days and on one day we went to the city of Alicante which is about an hour south. Nothing much there, just a city on the mediterranean. But there are hundreds of little Spanish villages dotted about inland and we can´t wait to start checking them out.
Will update properly later as we are out of time on this.
