Yesterday it was another beautiful, sunny day. One cannot be in Rome without seeing the Trevi fountain...and about 5,000 other tourists felt the same way yesterday! I did throw the coins in the fountain in hopes that I will be back to visit Rome.
Since we did not take the advice of those that have been to Italy previously and come with empty suitcases, we had to do some suitcase shopping!
We have been enjoying exploring the small restaurants and were on a mission to find one that served carciofi (artichokes) as we both love them. We finally found a small sidewalk restaurant that served them...it was nice to sit and relax and watch the locals pass by.
Today, very near the Spanish Steps, we walked by the high school Luigi attended (...a few years back!). As we walked in the archway, a very kind gentleman approached and when Luigi told him that he once attended, we got the grand tour! What an amazing school...built in the late 1500's. The halls were filled with sculptures and paintings dating back hundreds of years. The auditorium had portraits of many famous alumni (cardinals, popes, poets....and Luigi!
After a stop at the Pantheon, we are now heading to another small restaurant for supper....hopefully for some good risotto and wine. we did have a great lunch with ossobuco and Spaghetti al basilico and pomodoro. But that is not enough. Before leaving Rome we now need some more risotto......
Tomorrow we will be leaving for the Island of Ischia for some R&R....in hot thermal water that may repair our sore feet.
