The Journey to Kanchanaburi

February 17, 2007 - Kanchanaburi, Thailand

You will be happy to know I am now up to date with my posts and have made it safely to Kanchanaburi (JUST!!!!!!!!)

Todays event actualy prompted me to get up to date with my posts.

I spent the last couple of days traveling from Krabi to Kanchanaburi. it took a boat, a bus and two trains to get here but I finally made it.
It was not without incident though.

On the final leg of my journey on the train from Nakon Pathom to Kanchanaburi I had just had a nice kip, when I luckily woke just in time to stop myself from dribling all over the anoyed looking Thai guy siting next to me, though that is deviating. I was confused as to why the train driver was runing from the controls as quickly as he could, then a couple of seconds later it became clear. There was a huge bang and the first few windows of the front carriage (my carriage)shattered and and went everywhere, I got a glimpse of something in the smoke, though i wasnt sure what it was until we stopped, people screamed as the train came to abrupt halt.

After a brief period of screaming, and general confusion, things died down and we started to investigate. It turned out that a truck had pulled out infront of the train and couldnt get out of the way so the driver bailed and the rest was history (especially the truck). The trauck was ripped apart but luckily I dont think anyone was hurt and it wasnt long before they swept up the glass from the train and we were on our merry litle way.

Well thats it from me for now, just had a marathon blog sesion and I am exhausted, time to get showered and see what Kanchanaburi has in the way of evening entertainment before I head off on my elephant trek and rafting tomorrow.

Until next time.......
