Machu Picchu, PERU

May 11, 2009 - Lima, Peru

Machu Picchu was the most amazing thing I have ever seen, besides for Saint Peter's in Rome. So far those are my two favortie things, and I think they are both wonders of the world. My friends and I here have decided that we want to visit each wonder of the world! We did a hike called Waynapicchu which was really difficult, only took a couple hours however. The hike was straight up on these old little steps that just seemed to go on forever and ever. It was so cool it was like we were hiking up into the clouds and then when we got to the top when the clouds cleared, you could see all of Machu Picchu.

Cusco was an amazing city, full of tourists. Everyone spoke english, Peru has become such a popular place to travel and study abroad. Machu Picchu brings people from all of the world. It's funny we bought a lot of cool gifts in Cusco and everytime someone was trying to sell you something they would say in English, "This is Inca, stone from Machu Picchu, stone that Incas used!" Haha how stupid do they think people are. Machu Picchu was amazing I took a nap and woke up so happy to be looking at one of the most beautiful wonders of the world.

Our next trips include Huarraz (the mountains of Peru), Nazca Lines, and the Iquitos (amazon jungle). Until those trips I am here in Lima going to my classes all in Spanish, going out and exploring Lima, and meeting new people everyday...not a bad life. Hope everyone is well, Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Machu Picchu is an amazing place, since I arrived I felt incredible because of the charm and the beauty of this place. I had the opportunity to travel last year with some friends during my vacation, and although it was a long journey the result was the best. We learned more about the history of this place and knew the customs of their inhabitants. In addition, we enjoyed the magnetism that this area irradiated. This would not have been possible without the help of the travel agency I contracted, TurPeru that arranged all our tours to make our stay the best. I recommend it; the website is http://www.turperu.com.pe/ if you want more information.

It was great to talk to you today. You sounded great. Enjoy this time. The pictures are amazing. I can only imagine how more beautiful of a place it is in person.
Love you
Aunt Anita
