Monument Valley

July 11, 2007 - Monument Valley, Utah, United States

So we are pretty much on the road all day today. We stopped off in Monument Valley which was actually a spectacular view.Ursh and me in Monument Valley I’d actually never heard of it before, so it was a nice surprise. Turns out they make lots of adverts and movies in the area, especially westerns (good old john wayne movies). DSCN1031And even Forest Gump. it’s the point where he stops running. Interesting facts! Its all in the Navajo Reserve so we had a guided tour by one of the locals and checks out a few of the formations and talked about their native language, which is what the movie Windtalkers was based on. Monument ValleyYes typical me always refers to movies, I cant help myself…I really need to cut down on the amount of television I watch. Im in heaven here though, I get back to back Law and Order episodes on TNT…I love american TV!! But yeh, back to the tour….we were on the dodgiest tour bus ever! It had no windows, no seat seats belt and held together by duct tape! Yes duct tape!! It was so funny. Dodgy BusIt was real bush bashing styles! We bought some hand made jewellery which was pretty, and then headed back onto the bus to go onwards to Cortez. We passed through the state of Utah where Ursh almost died when she found out that the state does not promote the sale of alcohol! Haha! The tour guide made it perfectly clear we weren’t stopping, so there was a bit of relief for the bus! Hehe. So yeh, one night in cortez and then we have a fun morning ahead…WHITE WATER RAFTING! So that should be good fun!
