We had a free day in
Memphis today….which really wasn’t exciting like I said earlier. The only good part was checking out Graceland (Elvis Presley’s House) in the morning!

I was really quite surprised at how small the house was. I was expecting this big mansion thing, but the house wasn’t that big. It was on quite a large property but the house itself was kinda average. The inside was such a crack up. Every room was totally different, and as it was my first experience in a 70’s style house I was grateful I was born in the 80’s!!! U G L Y….ugly!!!! He had the most god awful green carpeted WALLS…yes WALLS and roof on the planet! What where they thinking in those days!

There was a really cool room which he called the animal room which had its own indoor wall waterfall which looked cool. He has his own racquet ball building too and we even got to check out his plane…which I totally want to fly home…it has a double bed in it!!

I didn’t actually know this but Elvis is actually buried there. He was originally buried somewhere else but his father had him moved because of fears of vandalism or something!

So we spent a couple of hours there and then headed back to the hotel where we were free to wander around Memphis. There really wasn’t much to see so I decided to see Lethal Weapon 4 with a couple of the guys and then we got together with the contiki gang for a baseball game!

We went to watch the Memphis Redbirds, which was just a minor league team and we scored free shirts which was cool. The game seemed like it went forever though…but it was a cool atmosphere.

The Yankee’s and Whitesox game we are seeing in
New York should be heaps better, but this was good. We enjoyed hotdogs and beer and cheered on the Redbirds…although we lost miserably! We looked the part though right? Hehe!
