picnic time

August 18, 2007 - Villefranche-sur-Mer, France

lunchie munchiesAhhhh a sleep in….gotta love it! We are pretty much here just to eat, sleep, drink and relax, well that’s was thought anyway! Turns out we were going to work our asses off today!! We were supposed to be going on a picnic, which I thought was going to be cool, nice and relaxing, chill out a little, you know…the normal picnic! Turns out no….we had to hike up this bloody hill for over and hour to get there! My lord were our legs hurting. lazing about at the picnicWe haven’t done any sport for a month an a half so boy oh boy did we feel it! I thought it was never going to end!!! We had a beautiful view of everything from the top and enjoyed a nice picnic but it was a little painful on the way up! One of the conitki reps said whoever can back with the most random picture would get a free drink…so I got my thinking cap on and of course roped Ursh into doing something on camera for me…haha! I love how she does what she is directed when it comes to crazy pictures! Haha! We were in this beautiful spot which had little flowers everywhere and since we had a little basket from out picnic I made her run around singing ‘The hills are alive with the sound of music’ on camera! Haha. flower picking urshie Gave us a good laugh…and hopefully will for you to, cause im posting it on this website! Haha. We felt really good afterwards…and it was a hell of a lot easier getting back! I enjoyed a bit of a chilly swim when we got back….the water was only a few degrees above freezing temperature but it was still good. And it helped stretch my legs out a bit which was much needed. It totally helped…I woke up in the morning with no pain or stiffness at all so im happy! After the swim we had the most awesome dinner!!! We had salad as a starter, roast chicken and veggies for main and then a beautiful sorbet for dessert…I was in heaven!! We all just went back for seconds of veggies! We were vegetable deprived!! It was so good! Best meal ive had in a while! So after filling up our bellies to the max me and my room mates and 2 others from the tour crashed on the floor in our room to watch a Napoleon Dynamite on my laptop which kept us entertained for a while. DSCN1430Ive remember starting to watch that movie once before and turned it off after about 20 mins thinking it was crap…but I actually thought it was funny! We then just sat around chatting while some of the others went back down to the cave for a few drinks. Most of the gang were going to have an early night so I just chilled in the room for a bit and then stayed up chatting to some friends outside my room while the others slept. It was such a lovely day. The weather was perfect, sun shining, we were in a wine region so we were surrounded by beautiful green fields and it was just a great atmosphere! I don’t want to leave! It actually felt like a holiday today, cause I was chilling out, going for a swim, having a relaxing chat with friends…its wasn’t go go go. Was nice to chill! me with the view

Somethings havent changed in 20 years, the French, however there is a Pool at the Chateau now and lordy be they have renamed the night club to the Cave? Was called the Fridge when I was there in 1987. The picnic brings back memories of staggering around the French countryside....blotto. The pictures almost look like the back drop for Windows XP Niesh. Really enjoy reading the Journal.......
