Onwards to Athens

August 29, 2007 - Athens, Greece

AHHH dry land! We hopped off the ferry and continued on the Athens, which turned out to be a quicker stop than what I was expecting! We arrived in the city and straight away went on a city tour with this greek lady that was the most boring tour guide on the planet. As we were driving along she was telling us the names of street and stuff that we were going past….LIKE WE CARE??? We want to look at the interesting buildings and stuff woman!! WEIRDO! We stopped off at Acropolis and Parthenon where we walked up the hill to get a few happy snaps and a little history lesson. I actually learnt that the Lincoln memorial that we saw in Washington was based on the building we were looking at….so didn’t know that! We also had a stop off at the Olympic track stadium which holds up to 70,000 people which was cool! Definitely not as fancy and the stadiums they build these days! There really wasn’t much else to see, which was a little disappointing but when I realized what was next I didn’t care! GREEK FOOD BABY!! My lord was it good!! We had the most yummiest dinner ive had yet!! The food just kept on coming! I was so upset my appetite wasn’t like it normally was…I’d barely eaten much in a few days cause I just wasn’t hungry….but when I started eaten the greek food I didn’t want to stop! They just kept on coming out with all these entrée’s it was soooo yummy! I couldn’t eat my main meal when it came out! Haha! We even got to see the greek dancing while we were eating our dinner! Mmmm I thought the Italians could cook but the greeks are just as good! It was a late night and an early start unfortunately….by the time we walked back to the train station and caught the train home it was about midnight….and we had to be up at 4am!!! Yes 4am! Not happy jan! Out ferry left at 6am so we had to leave at 5:15...boohoo! So by the time we had showers, finished our chit chats…we probably only had about 3 hours sleep! Crappo!
