Absolutely beautiful! We have been spoiled with sunshine and amazing scenery. We left off I believe in Coos Bay, where Chris had his epic crash (a few bandaids did the trick). After being soaked and rained on we decided to rent a car all the way to Petaluma. We noticed we were crying more then laughing, so we thought we'd go have some fun in the California sunshine. Chris' cousin Mindy and her husband David took us in for a few days, wine and dined us, shared some stories, and sent us off towards the coast. (Many, many thanks!!!). We arrived here at Point Reyes Station after a gorgeous ride through some rolling hills. Erin (Chris' sister) met up with us and we enjoyed a few spirits and the best pulled pork sandwich ever. I've noticed in restaurants the strange looks I get, aside from being in lycra and loud shoes, I devour every bit of food that's placed in front of me. This is not the time to be dainty..this is feeding time! Chris usually has to point out the mess I've made all over my face.
Oh, and something else about this restaurant, the bathrooms are like a hot ticket! You need to prepare to go to the bathroom like 20 mins before you actually have to go. It was like a race! Anyway, we ended up staying at a really developed campground a few miles from Point Reyes station, 30 dollars a night! With every effort we had we woke up at the crack of dawn and snuck out of there before anyone noticed..I only felt a little bad. In the morning we rode to the Vistor's Center and reserved a campground that was 6 miles away, not too bad, until we realized it was 6 miles away through a hiking trail. I think after this ride our title should be mountain bikers more so than tourers. Up Up Up we went over logs, rocks, divets..everything. It took about 3 hours..did I mention it was uphill? Once we got to our campsite we both crashed in the meadow under the sun and layed there to soak in all the warmth and beauty I believed we deserved. Because we've gotten a little crazy we decided after this escapade to hike for about 6 miles round trip out to a place called Arch Rock. Up Up Up we went..but on foot..which felt much better. When we arrived at the end of our trail, it was absolutely breathtaking! It was probably one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. The pictures we've posted on here will not do it justice...some place I would recommend everyone to venture out and explore. I couldn't help but notice that everyone I encountered on this hike had smiles on their faces..big smiles...you couldn't help but be in total awe of the ocean, high cliffs, blue sky, geology..it was definitely a sacred place. After our embrace with the scenery we headed back down to the campsite. The night was short, ate gummi worms, cooked up some ramen, and hit the thermarest. Today we plan on going out towards a coast campsite..another uphill ride..6 miles..but at least it's paved!
