oh bugger! i already wrote this entry and then th computer crashed and i lost it.....bloody hell!!!!!anyway...start again...
i left saigon n the 24 hour train to go to vinh in north vietnam with the idea that i would go to laos from there....however, nowhere in vinh would change my dong into doller, so i had to then get a furthr train to hanoi, which i dont mind at all as i have been there a few times and always stay in the best hostel in the world, the hanoi backpackers hostel, and have a party. and this time was no differant! met a great group of guys in my dorm and we got utterly hammered in the local irish bar finnigans! the next day was a little harsh as i was getting the 24 hour bus into laos, but luckily, the best thing to do when making this kind of journey is to be shattererd so you can sleep through it, which i did! i met two amazing canadian girls, maddy and ash and a dutch chap, ray, on the bus, and we all decided to go to vang vieng together for a few days...well, there is no such thing as going to vang vieng for a few days, you have to give it at least a week!!!
the big attraction at vang vieng is the tubing, where basically you sit in a giant tracter inner tube and float down the river, stopping at the many bars along the way to drink buckets of whisky and shots of laos laos! there are also huge swings to swing from which are several meters high and you drop into the river...immense fun, and incredibly breathtaking surroundings. on our first night we lay in hammocks watching the sun set behind the mountains!
i ended up staying longer than the others as i got tonsilitas and also had a nice holiday fling with an english chap called martin, which was, well.....i'm not going to go into detail here, but it was all very very nice...! i left vang vieng and headed to vientienne, where i got a tuk tuk to the friendship bridge border crossing with thailand, crossed the border and then got the overnight train to bangkok, woohoo!
i love bangkok.....it is my most favourite city ever, ever, ever, ever,ever......i met up with the canadian girls and ray, and also met some amazing crazy crazy scouse guys who we had so much fun with, and clare and i are meeting up with them for the full moon party later this month in ko pagnyan, so should be a blast! matin arrived for 24 hours on his way home to he uk, but he has left now, and i am still out here, so who knows where that will go. i do hope we stay in touch as he was a lot of fun to be around.
the one shit thing to happen in bangkok is that my purse was stolen....grrr.....but, i have also had my purse stolen in manchester before, so i cant hold it against bangkok, thats just people...*shrug*
then, on a plane to cambodia to meet my mum.....yey!
loving everything so far and still have utterly utterly no intention of returning to the uk, but am hoping to complete a tefl (celta) in june, whihc will mean i can teach and then i can defo stay travelling for much much longer!
xxxxxx
